Review: Menya Itto リビュー: 麺屋ー燈

YJ is on a roll with his second blog post in one week! He’s been holding off the ramen for a while, but was invited out recently to check out a popular place with a coworker the other day. He was roped into kindly decided to write a review. Alas, there’s only one picture, but it’s of the most important part: the food. /Ri

YJ here. It’s been a while. How is everyone?

This time, I just happened to have an errand in Shinkoiwa, and stopped by famous ramen restaurant Menya Itto.

The place opens at 11am, so when we went there at 10:30am… Even though it was a weekday, we had to stand in line for 40-50 minutes (even after it opened). Now, since I have a 6th sense for these things, I understood I must also stand in this line and wait. (Well, my 6th sense fails me more often than it gets it right but anyway…)

Seeing is believing! Please have a look at the photo, which is the cha-shu tsukemen (¥1,100)!! If you’re a tsukemen fan, I’m confident you’ll understand what I mean, just by looking at this image. That’s right! This restaurant has gotten excellent reviews and ratings on Tabelog! Sorry, I got a little bit over excited. (^^;)My deepest apologies.

It may be hard to see in this photo, but there are fish balls in the soupーa novel idea I’m sure you’ll love. This time, I was captivated by the beauty of the two types of chashu (roasted pork fillet) in front of me. Drinking this soup with its fish balls and two kinds of cha-shu is an experience that is out of this world! (Despite how it looks, the soup base was surprisingly refreshing.)

Eating good food makes you happy, right? ^^ I’m that type of person too. (lol)

I’m sorry. I got over excited again. This is, though, by far the best ramen I’ve had this year. Thank you so much, Menya Itto-san. I enjoyed my meal very much. I’ll bring Ri along with me next time!

Note from Ri: I mentioned YJ likes ramen a lot, right?  ^^; Anyway, I’m glad he finally got the chance to review a “real” ramen place, rather than cup ramen… This is probably the first time he’s ever taken a photo of his food before eating it. I’m so proud. 😉 If you’re interested in checking out Menya Itto for yourself, the details can be found below! -^^-

I want to try this too. O.o YJ, become a ramen critic/spokesperson? Your reactions are persuasive. ^^

PS. Ri, I’m suddenly reminded of Kuroyanagi from Yakitate. XD

    • He would *love* that. ^^; Too much, I fear. XD
Haha, wow! You’ve got me wanting to watch that again… and you’re rightーhis descriptions are definitely in a similar vein! I should watch him more closely when he eats. 😉
